Eligibility and Age Requirements

NOTE: Exhibitors who are members of multiple organizations (4-H, FFA, Grange, or independents) may not show the same species under two different organizations either within San Joaquin County or across counties. An example would be if you were a member of both an FFA chapter and a 4-H club within San Joaquin County, you may not enter the same species at AgFest under both organizations. Another example would be if you were a member of a 4-H club in one county and an FFA chapter in another county, you may not enter the same species at fair events in both counties under two different organizations. 4-H Club Members

Eligible 4-H members who are under the supervision of the University of California Cooperative Extension.  Junior, Intermediate and Senior members must be 9 years old on December 31 of the previous year.   Exhibitors are able to compete/exhibit through December 31st of the year they turn 19 years of age. All entries in 4-H divisions are open to 4-H members in good standing with 4-H clubs with an active charter in San Joaquin County.


Future Farmers of America (FFA)

Eligible FFA members only who are under the supervision of the Bureau of Agricultural Education.  FFA members may participate as members until the end of the calendar year following the year of graduation from high school.  All entries in FFA divisions are open to FFA members belonging to the following chapters:  Bear Creek, Delta Charter, Durham Ferry, East Union, Escalon, Linden, Lathrop, Lodi, Manteca, Merrill West, Ripon, Ripon Christian, Sierra, St. Mary’s, Stagg, Tokay, Tracy, Venture Academy, and Weston Ranch. 


Independent Youth Exhibitors

Independent exhibitors in grades 4th through 8th will be placed/penned with 4-H and grades 9th and above will be placed/penned with FFA. Exhibitors must be residents of San Joaquin County and at least 9 years old by January 1 of the current year. Exhibitors are able to compete/exhibit through December 31st of the year they turn 19 years of age. Independent exhibitors must submit an Independent Record Book and pictures electronically with exhibitors name in the subject line to agfestlvstck@gmail.com (4 views, face, both sides & back including Exhibitor’s face in pictures with their animal), permanent tag and/or tattoo information and Bill of Sale to establish length of ownership. Important submission dates and length of ownership dates per specie will be included in the independent record book when it is released for AgFest.


Grange

Eligible Grange members who are under the supervision of the California State Grange. Grange members must be at least 9 years old on January 1st to exhibit and/or sell livestock. Exhibitors are able to compete/exhibit through December 31st of the year they turn 19 years of age. Exhibitors will be place/penned within their age appropriate classes/barn – 4th through 8th grade will be placed in 4-H classes and 9th grade and older will be placed with the FFA classes.
