SUPREME CHAMPION DRIVE
Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 AT 7:00 PM
(30 Minutes Following FFA Market Swine Show)

RULES AND INFORMATION
  1. All Market Swine must turn in Bill of Sale at Ear Tag Pickup. 
  2. All Exhibitors must own Market Swine at least 60 days prior to AgFest.  (See Ownership Requirements for specie date).
  3. Independent exhibitors must submit pictures electronically with exhibitor’s name in the subject line to agfestlvstck@gmail.com (4 views, face, both sides & back including Exhibitor’s face in pictures with their animal), then 60 days prior to AgFest.  (See Ownership Requirements for specie date).
  4. AgFest does not provide any bedding for any animals.  All swine will be bedded on shavings, only bedding bags will be permitted on top of shavings and must be kept clean at all times.   Rice straw, mats, nets and sprays are prohibited. 
  5. Barrows and Gilts only. 
  6. The majority of clipping, trimming and any other use of clippers, shears, etc. shall be done at home prior to bringing all species of animals to the Fairgrounds.  Only last minute “touch up” grooming will be permitted on the Fairgrounds.
  7. Hogs must be free of excessive mud to allow for a reasonable health inspection for parasites. Lice or ticks must be treated prior to arrival at AgFest. 
  8. Desired ear tag placement.  AgFest issued ear tags should be placed in the hog’s left ear for 4-H/Grange swine and in the hog’s right ear for FFA/Grange swine.  The tag will be placed with the number of the tag on the back side of the ear for easy identification. 
  9. After weighing, market hogs will be divided into weight lots within the 215 to 280-pound limitations as desired for convenience of judging.  Hogs under 215 and over 281 pounds will not be allowed to sell but are eligible to enter showmanship if exhibitor’s only animal. 
  10. Exhibitor entering this Department has read the Junior Livestock – Showmanship Section, and parents, leaders or advisors have reviewed with Exhibitor.
  11. Exhibitors with 2 market animals will have one hour from the conclusion of their last market show to declare at the livestock office, which animal is not selling. If an exhibitor does not inform the livestock office that they are not selling within that allotted time frame, the superintendents retain the right to choose which animal sells, decision is final.  
  12. ALL Exhibitors are to completely clean pens prior to release, and place debris in designated areas. This includes FFA pens and those FFA Pens when moved into the 4-H Barn for the sale.
  13. All non-sale hogs must be removed by Wednesday at 8pm.  Make arrangements with superintendents for release after Wednesday at 8 pm.

PEN COMPRESSION AND TACK REMOVAL MUST BE COMPLETED IN THE 4-H BARN BY 5 PM ON THURSDAY, JUNE 13th, 2019 IN PREPARATION FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF FFA SWINE ON FRIDAY MORNING. 

MARKET READY:  US No. 1 and US No. 2 hogs of average or greater conformation that are acceptable in leanness, muscularity and production traits. Eligible for sale

NOT MARKET READY:  Any hog of below average conformation and/or muscling including US No. 3, US No. 4 and utility grade hogs. Not eligible for sale.

DEFINITIONS

Breed Class – Duroc, Hampshire, Yorkshire, AOB & Crossbreed
Weight Class – The class that each breed class will be broke down by weight

RULES AND INFORMATION
  1. All breed classes will be broken down into weight classes to help keep the classes smaller, so it is easier for the FFA & 4-H Members to show their animals and for the judge to evaluate the animals.
  2. If a barrow is a breed class Best of Breed and/or Reserve Best of Breed, they will be called back to the ring for the final drive to select the FFA or 4-H Champion a Reserve Champion Barrow. ONLY the barrows in the final drive will qualify for BEST OF SHOW BARROW and RESERVE BEST OF SHOW BARROW.
  3. The Best of Show and Reserve Best of Show Barrows will be selected from the Champion and Reserve Champion barrows from FFA & 4-H.

NOTE:  The only swine that will need to be tracked for the barrow show will be the Best of Breed and Reserve Best of Breed of each breed class if they are barrows.  The maximum amount of swine that can be in the final drive for FFA and 4-H barrow Champion and Reserve Champion are 10. Some breed classes may have two barrows in the final and other breed classes may not have any if Best of Breed and Reserve Best of Breed are gilts.

RULES AND INFORMATION
  1. No more than two animals owned by each exhibitor.  Each animal in the group pen competition must have been shown in the market classes in the Junior Department.  Quality and uniformity of the animals in the group pen will be emphasized.

NON-SALE MARKET ANIMALS:

Exhibitors with 2 market animals will have one hour from the conclusion of their last market show to declare at the livestock office, which animal is not selling. If you have the same specie animal, or an animal that will not be sold it is one hour after that show. 

If an exhibitor does not inform the livestock office that they are not selling within that allotted period, the superintendents retain the right to choose which animal sells, decision is final. 

Check the Daily Schedule for release times and be sure to remove your non-sale animals after obtaining release authorizations from the livestock officeBe sure to remove the correct animal.  If a designated sale animal that has been given a lot number for the sale is removed from the Fairgrounds and or taken home in error, it may not be returned to the Fairgrounds.  The wrong animal kept at the fair will not be eligible to sell.

  2. Classes may be combined/split at AgFest management discretion. 
  3. Note: The system will only allow you to enter your age bracket – if you have won Advanced Showmanship in prior years, please let the Livestock Office know to make the change on Monday, June 10th, 2019 by 4:00 pm
