SUPREME CHAMPION DRIVE

Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 AT 7:00 PM
(30 Minutes Following FFA Market Swine Show)

RULES AND INFORMATION
  1. All Market Goats must turn in Bill of Sale at ear tag pick up. Goats are to be tagged prior to check in with official AgFest Ear tags. 
  2. Exhibitor must have owned animals in market goat classes for 60 days prior to AgFest. (See Ownership Requirements for specie date).
  3. Independent exhibitors must submit pictures electronically with exhibitor’s name in the subject line to agfestlvstck@gmail.com(4 views, face, both sides & back including Exhibitor’s face in pictures with their animal), no later than 60 days prior to AgFest.  (See Ownership Requirements for specie date).
  4. All goats will be bedded on shavings, only bedding bags will be permitted on top of shavings and must be kept clean at all times.  Rice straw is prohibited. 
  5. Goats must have milk teeth. 
  6. Goats to be disbudded. Goats with horns or scurs cannot be longer than 2″ and must be tipped. 
  7. Castration sites must be healed and free of inflammation. 
  8. Goats must be shorn within 10 days prior to being shown and have no more than 1/4″ of hair growth left anywhere except below the knees, hocks, and tail switch. 
  9. All Market Goats must have Scrapie Tags. 
  10. The only other tags that are permitted are State Fair issue tags. 
  11. Goats arriving at AgFest will be health inspected prior to entering barn area.  Any questionable animals will be put in quarantine pens for vet check before entering barns.  Animals showing evidence of any communicable disease will not be allowed to exhibit and must be removed from the Fairgrounds immediately.  Inspection decisions are final and may not be protested. 
  12. No person shall be allowed to interfere with the health inspection or offer any audible criticism of any kind.  Violators will be excused immediately from the competition and be subject to other penalties as management shall consider proper. 
  13. After weighing, market goats will be divided into weight classes, as desired for convenience of judging. Goats will not be paid for more than 105 pounds in the Junior Livestock Auction.
  14. Goats will be broken into Lightweight and Heavyweight classes depending on numbers. Middleweight could be an option.
  15. Exhibitor entering this Department has read the Junior Livestock – Showmanship Section, and parents, leaders or advisors have reviewed with Exhibitor. 
  16. Exhibitors with 2 market animals will have one hour from the conclusion of their last market show to declare at the livestock office, which animal is not selling. If an exhibitor does not inform the livestock office that they are not selling within that allotted time frame, the superintendents retain the right to choose which animal sells, decision is final.  
  17. ALL Exhibitors are to completely clean pens prior to release, and place debris in designated areas. 
  18. For Sheep and Goats, the Processor is requiring a new withdrawal statement stating, “No Added Hormone” and those animals are “Hormone Free.”  
  19. All goats will be tagged with EID tags

RULES FOR GOAT FITTING AND CHECK-IN: All market goats must be clipped above the hock and knees as shown prior to check in

MARKET READY:  USDA Prime or Choice quality with 12thrib back fat range 0.08-0.12 most desirable, 0.13 – 0.22 back fat acceptable, average or greater conformation and cut ability.  Eligible for sale. 

NOT MARKET READY:  Good or lower quality grade with 12thrib back fat range <0.08 or >0.22; under finished goats grading USDA good or lower, below average conformation or cut ability. Not eligible for sale

RULES AND INFORMATION 
  1. All Market Goats must have been entered and shown in the market show. 
  2. Must have a Bill of Sale for evidence that Market Goat was born and raised in San Joaquin County. 
  3. Class will follow selection of FFA Champions. 
  4. Champion Born and Raised Belt Buckle donated by Sundance Kids.  Reserve Champion buckle donated Sundance Kids. 
  5. The class will have NO effect on how the sale order is established.

RULES AND INFORMATION
  1. No more than two animals owned by each exhibitor.  Each animal in the group pen competition must have been shown in the market classes in the Junior Department.  Quality and uniformity of the animals in the group pen will be emphasized. 

NON-SALE MARKET ANIMALS:

Exhibitors with 2 market animals will have one hour from the conclusion of their last market show to declare at the livestock office, which animal is not selling. If you have the same specie animal, or an animal that will not be sold it is one hour after that show. 

If an exhibitor does not inform the livestock office that they are not selling within that allotted period, the superintendents retain the right to choose which animal sells, decision is final. 

Check the Daily Schedule for release times and be sure to remove your non-sale animals after obtaining release authorizations from the livestock officeBe sure to remove the correct animal.  If a designated sale animal that has been given a lot number for the sale is removed from the Fairgrounds and or taken home in error, it may not be returned to the Fairgrounds.  The wrong animal kept at the fair will not be eligible to sell.

  1. Winners of each age group may advance to the next age group or Advanced Showmanship, class #15.  
  2. Classes may be combined/split at AgFest management discretion 
  3. Note: The system will only allow you to enter your age bracket – if you have won Advanced Showmanship in prior years, please let the Livestock Office know to make the change on Monday, June 10th, 2019 by 4:00 pm

Special accommodations will need to be approved by one of the superintendents including, showmanship animals.

All Beef, Sheep, Goat & Swine Market animals will need to be removed by Wednesday at 8 pm – unless arrangements have been made with the Superintendents.
