Code of Ethics

AgFest has developed a Code of Ethics to ensure the safety and well-being of all AgFest participants. All exhibitors and their parents/guardians must read carefully and sign the Code of Ethics and turn them in to their Leaders/Advisors. Leaders/advisors will be required to collect these signed forms for all their exhibitors and turn them in at ear tag pickup. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN AGFEST 2024

Please download and print the Code of Ethics and carefully review before signing and turning in to your leader/advisor.

Market Swine Exhibitors – More Information about Proposition 12 Requirements for AgFest 2024

At the Executive Meeting and General Meeting on December 5th – in reference to Prop 12 Compliant Housing – it was voted that ALL MARKET SWINE EXHIBITORS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT AND UPLOAD PROP 12 CERTIFIED COMPLIANT CERTIFICATE WITH THEIR ENTRIES WHICH ARE DUE NO LATER THAN APRIL 23rd, 2024.

The CDFA Fairs and Expositions (F&E) Branch strongly recommends that all fairs request that their market hog exhibitors submit a third-party certification to ensure the pork meat from the show pig has access to a “resale” market. All pork producers, regardless of age and farm size, in California and those outside of California selling market show pigs to California exhibitors, must be in compliance with Proposition 12. “Pork producer” means
a person engaged in the business of keeping, maintaining, confining and/or housing a female pig of the porcine species that is six (6) months of age or older, or is pregnant, for the purpose of commercial breeding to produce pork meat from the breeding pig or her immediate offspring for human consumption. Based on the Prop 12 Certified Compliance requirements – ALL MARKET SWINE ATTENDING FAIR THAT WILL BE RESALE WILL NEED TO BE CERTIFIED PROP 12 COMPLIANT AFTER 1/1/2024 AND THE EXHIBITORS WILL NEED TO OBTAIN A CERTIFICATE FROM THE BREEDER FOR THE MARKET SWINE.

FOR MARKET SWINE EXHIBITORS WHO ARE RAISING THEIR OWN PROJECT ANIMALS – WE WILL FOLLOW CDFA RECOMMENDATION AND THEIR UPDATES ON THE LOGISTICS AND RULES.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE MAY CHANGE IN THE COMING WEEKS.  SEE ATTACHED DEC 5TH LETTER FROM CDFA.  (IT IS STILL UNDER REVIEW BY THEIR LEGAL TEAM). At this time, the CDFA is stating in their letter that breeding pigs that are part of a youth project are exempt from the Proposition 12 requirements. However, we recommend that all Exhibitors raising their own projects/selling projects look into becoming Proposition 12 Certified, just in case this information changes in the coming weeks. See the attached letter on who to call and how to go about the process of becoming certified.
